Assistant Logistics and Driving Coordinator - Flour Bakery Commissary

Flour Bakery + Cafe is now hiring a full-time Assistant Logistics and Driving Coordinator based out of our production kitchen in the Seaport of Boston!!

The driving and logistics department is responsible for the delivery and care of all of our delicious pastries and products to our bakeries around Boston and Cambridge. The D+L team is also responsible for the receiving and storage of all of the goods for the Commissary Kitchen. 

We are seeking a self-motivated individual who thrives working in a fun and positive environment and feels confident leading a team of drivers and receivers who are crucial to the success of the company. You’ll be overseeing and assisting with receiving orders, packing orders to go to locations, and managing various needs for the commissary while maintaining a strong sense of internal hospitality to all the staff and vendors you encounter throughout the day.

Day-to-Day Performance Expectations:
  • Lead excellent hospitality through in-the-moment coaching, role modeling, and utilizing customer feedback to reinforce and improve quality of service.
  •  Help to maintain an overall positive team environment by role modeling teamwork and respect in accordance with Flours’ Mission.
  • Provide open communication with your management about the bakeries on-goings, changes, the team, and ideas for improvement.
  • Guide the driving teams day-to-day activities alongside or in the absence of the LDC.
  • Assist with training of new team members and help to ensure consistency in training.
  • Actively monitor health code standards including temp logs, cleanliness of vehicles, and food handling awareness of the team.  
  • Work alongside the driving team as needed as an internal driver, receiver at BK, helping with special orders, and assisting the catering team as needed.
  • Responding to location needs and requests.
  • Maintain proper invoicing and record keeping for commissary, vendor orders, and our bakeries.
  • Assist the LDC in coordinating repairs and maintenance of the fleet.
  • Maintaining overall cleanliness/organization of the commissary.
  • Work alongside the LDC on scheduling and payroll.
  • Assist the LDC in creating and maintaining systems and procedures.


Skills for Qualification: 
  • Preferred one year of driver experience and/or related experience and training
  • One year of prior supervisory or management experience
  • Valid US Drivers License for a minimum of 3 years, must be in good standing and kept up to date.
  • Ability to pass a background check as well as a review of past driving records with notifications of changes to your driving record.
  • One weekend day as part of your regular schedule, in addition to helping to cover shifts as needed for the team, holidays, and special events.
  • Require a 5am start time for most shifts, flexible start and finish times around holidays and special events.

  • Willingness to work both inside and outside, all year in any weather conditions.
  • Must be able to maintain proper grooming and uniform standards 
  • Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift < 50 lbs. without assistance

Work Environment:
  • Must be able to work around an environment with loud noises and machinery. 
  • Must be able to work around various aromas and fluctuating temperatures (some days you could be in a freezer, other times you could be outside)
